MELBOURNE CUP (Tue 7th)

Timing is everything! GIDDY UP!!!

As November 2006 was the only option for our wedding date, we decided to time it in with the Spring Racing Carnival, so our interstate guests could experience the Melbourne Cup and Racing Fever in Melbourne! A big day after a big night for the boys - but they were up for it!! Some winners and some losers.....unfortunately my winning race celebrations were short lived.....a certain person (who shall remain nameless) put a bet on the wrong horse for me!! As they say - if you want something done properly, then best do it yourself!! Although the weather was less than pleasant (at least it didn't rain) a great day out was had by all! Celebrations continued on after the Cup at De's local bar "The Quiet Man" in Ascotvale - which was not so quiet that night! The corner end of the street had even been barracaded to extend the pub outdoor area to cater for more patrons!
